Traditional Chinese Medicine
Along with most traditional medicine systems, TCM views the human body as a set of complete and sophisticated interconnected systems all working together to create health. In considering imbalances (or dis-ease) a TCM practitioner will assess the balance of Yin and Yang with respect to qi ("breath", "life force", or "spiritual energy"), blood, jing ("kidney essence" or "semen"), other bodily fluids, the five elements, emotions, and the soul or spirit (shen).
A Chinese Medicine practitioner will use pulse and tongue diagnosis as well as observation and asking questions. They then may prescribe herbs, acupuncture, lifestyle changes or exercises (such as Qi Gung or Tai Chi).
